Meet Healthcode’s Chief Operating Officer

Tell us about your new role?

I’m delighted to be Healthcode’s new Chief Operating Officer after two full-on years as Director of Product.

The role brings together several areas of the business, including our people and culture, the products and services we build for customers, and the teams delivering essential services such as customer success, onboarding and clinical coding. I’ll also be overseeing our Clinical Advisory department and our brand new Clinical Advisory Board, which will help us develop solutions that better support both clinical practice and patients. More on that in a minute.

You’re part of a new leadership team at Healthcode. What does this mean for the company?

As the company continues to evolve, we needed a smaller executive team focused on realising our growth potential over the next few years. It’s important that we’re aligned around a shared vision and able to execute quickly and effectively as one team.

What challenges have you set yourself and what’s your vision for Healthcode in five years?

Hitting our business objectives naturally comes first, but delivering amazing service is a personal obsession of mine, so I’m thrilled to be back working closely with our Service teams.

People and Culture is a new area for me, but there’s a lot I want to do here. As well as recognising and rewarding our talent, I want to focus on corporate responsibility and giving back through our charitable partnership with Leukaemia UK.

Finally, I want to ensure we stay connected to our customers and their needs through initiatives such as our Clinical Advisory Board.

Looking ahead, I want Healthcode to be the clear digital platform at the centre of private healthcare, connecting patients, clinicians, hospitals and payers through a simpler, seamless experience.

A lot has changed since we last spoke. What has been your personal highlight?

My proudest moment was when we smashed our fundraising target in the first year of our charitable partnership with Rainbow Trust. Raising £25,000 for such an important cause was an incredible achievement, but I’m pushing us to do even better this year for Leukaemia UK.

I’m also feeling incredibly positive about our new Clinical Advisory Board and the impressive consultants from a range of specialties who have agreed to join.

As we continue building more clinician-facing products to support the patient journey, their insight will help us design an outstanding user experience.

The Board will also be working with us in the clinical coding space, helping bring together industry code sets to better support clinicians. This ties in nicely with the work we’re doing at CCSD, where I’m proud to serve as a Board Advisor.

Give us a sneak preview of some of the new developments in the pipeline?

Prescribing

I’m also particularly excited about our prescribing platform. We’re making it available free of charge to clinicians, giving them a simple, secure way to issue prescriptions digitally and connect patients directly to treatment.

The platform integrates with Pharmacy2U, creating a seamless and secure experience for both clinicians and patients while maintaining the highest standards of governance and patient safety.

What excites me most is the benefit for patients. As a patient myself, I’ve been quoted anything from £500 to £47 for exactly the same medication. The difference is simply knowing where to shop around, but most patients don’t know that, and frankly they shouldn’t have to.

Healthcare is complex enough without asking patients to become expert consumers of prescription medicines. This partnership helps take that burden out of the equation, making treatment more accessible and affordable without compromising on quality, safety or convenience.

For me, that’s what good healthcare technology should do. It should make life easier for clinicians, improve patient safety and help people access the care and medication they need at a fair price. When clinicians choose solutions that genuinely reduce costs and friction for patients, it shows a real commitment to patient-centred care.

Online Booking

The other big shift for us is our online appointment booking platform, ICE. We currently have more customers waiting to be onboarded than capacity to onboard them, which is a lovely problem to have.

As a patient, I want nothing more than to see hospitals, clinics and individual practitioners offering simple online booking. In 2026, consumers can book everything from restaurants to beauty appointments online in seconds. Healthcare should be no different.

We’re thrilled to have onboarded Newmedica, the ophthalmology part of the Specsavers family, as well as Practice Plus Group, one of the largest independent healthcare providers in the country.

As executive charity sponsor, you’re overseeing Healthcode’s charitable partnership with Leukaemia UK. Why is this so important and what do you hope to achieve?

We chose to partner with Leukaemia UK in honour of Sam Lawrence, our Senior Business Development Manager, who was diagnosed in 2025 and is now thankfully in remission.

This is a cause that means a great deal to all of us as a company, and I’d love for us to smash this year’s fundraising target of £28,000 to help fund research into the disease and new treatments.

Beyond that, I hope we can raise awareness of the incredible work Leukaemia UK does. The charity funds ground-breaking research to improve understanding of blood cancers and develop new treatments that could transform outcomes for patients like Sam.

Most importantly, I want our community to support Sam in every way possible. He has overcome everything that’s been thrown at him with extraordinary resilience, positivity and humour, and continues to inspire everyone around him.

It’s a busy year of fundraising, with activities ranging from bake sales and plant sales to charity runs and endurance events. Customers gave generously at our Private Healthcare Connect summer event and we’ve also invited them to join us for a Track Day at Daytona Sandown Park , where they can donate for the chance to drive around this premier outdoor circuit.

It was also inspiring to see Sam take on the Surrey Three Peaks Challenge, covering 23 miles and climbing more than 1,000 metres in support of the cause.

What do you love about working at Healthcode?

Like many patients, I still see too much complexity in healthcare, both within the NHS and the private sector. Navigating healthcare can often feel far more complicated than it should.

If I struggle to navigate the pathways despite working in the industry, I can only imagine the challenges faced by someone living with chronic pain, an elderly relative, or someone dealing with a serious diagnosis.

There are some fundamental aspects of patient access that still need to be addressed: online booking from your phone with the ability to reschedule easily; digital onboarding and check-in; confidence in the credentials and scope of practice of clinicians; a connected health record; and clear, accessible funding options that meet the needs of modern patients.

Every day, I have the opportunity to help solve these challenges. My hope is that one day people like my mother will be able to navigate the healthcare system with confidence, clarity and ease. That is what motivates me.

And finally, how do you switch off in your free time?

If you’ve ever had a two-year-old puppy, you’ll know there’s no such thing as free time.

He’s an extremely fluffy and chaotic Samoyed called Manu, who fills most of my days off.

When he isn’t chewing a table leg, I’m usually riding an indoor bike at Psycle with coach Riazul and lifelong friends. It helps me switch off and recharge, although I’ll admit it often involves more cake and snacks than exercise. Thankfully, it’s a judgement-free zone.
