What they needed
The MySkinDoctor tele-dermatology app enables patients to upload a photo of their skin condition and connect with a consultant, all from the comfort of their own home. As well as the reassurance of knowing they are in expert hands, patients can get their diagnosis, personalised treatment plan and prescription within three working days.
With demand for dermatology services on the rise in the UK, it’s no surprise that MySkinDoctor has grown rapidly since it was set up nearly eight years ago but it needed a practice management system that would help take the business to the next level.
In particular, its team of consultant dermatologists wanted a better way of managing patient interactions without having to log into a different system to issue a remote prescription and then switch back again to access the patient record. “It was just time-consuming and nobody enjoyed using it” explains Chief Medical Officer, Dr Bav Shergill. “It was also important to improve the service for patients who needed medication as prescription refusals were a big issue with our provider at the time.”

This way, consultants always know exactly what meds they’re selecting – no guesswork, no lookalikes and no confusion. They can also see stock levels from Pharmacy2U, our online pharmacy partner so they can be sure the drug is available when they're prescribing. If the pack they’ve chosen isn’t available an alternative is suggested instantly. That way, everything stays on track with zero disruption.
Once they’ve checked a prescription and added their digital signature, the consultant sends it securely to the patient who can then use the intuitive online platform to pay for their medication to be delivered to their door the following day by Pharmacy2U.
