Childhood should be a time of fun, freedom and family life but more than 86,000 children in England risk missing out because they have a serious health condition. This is unthinkably tough for the whole family: for the sick child, their parents, siblings and other relatives who have to cope with the day-to-day struggles and the emotional toll.
Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provides practical and emotional support to families with a seriously ill child across the UK so they can make the most of their time together, including funding Family Support Workers, keeping a child company during hospital stays, organising fun activities and bereavement support.
After our team heard about this important work, we were keen to do our bit to help and we’re excited to announce that Rainbow Trust has agreed to be our first charity partner.
Our partnership will see our team get stuck into loads of different challenges to raise money for this incredibly worthwhile cause and we’ll also be lending a hand by donating equipment, time and expertise. We’ll keep you updated on our fundraising events but here are a few of the eye-catching (and occasionally hair-raising) activities that we’ve got planned in the coming months:
- Colour coordination – our volunteers will be stationed along the Rainbow Adventure Trail on 29 May to cheer on the young walkers and help them complete all their checkpoint challenges
- Flying high – Daredevil Cintia Kisne Orban from our Customer Services team has signed up for a sponsored skydive from 10,000ft on 31 May
- Hole in one – we’ll be teeing off at the Rainbow Trust’s Corporate Golf Day on 16 August
- On the run – we’ll be teaming up for the Vitality London 10k in September and the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October
We’ll keep you updated on our fundraising events and milestones but in the meantime why not check out our Just Giving Page for more information about how our team are getting on and make a donation. Rainbow Trust is a lifeline for many sick children and their families and we’re proud to be flying their colours this year.
