Care Pathways, Prescribing and Video Consultations takes ePractice in a new direction

Practice Management Product Owner, Nicola Kingsmill, has exciting news about the next innovations for ePractice, our comprehensive practice management software.

Demand for private healthcare has never been higher. More than 8.06 million people in the UK have some form of medical insurance cover according to analysts, LaingBuisson, while others are ready to go private for a faster diagnosis or treatment.

The challenge is ensuring that every patient who comes through your door has the best experience that private healthcare can deliver. Of course, you have an excellent team and access to advanced medical equipment but you also need tech that supports your clinical team every step of the way.

That’s where the next generation of ePractice comes into the picture – our 360° practice management software will transform how you run your practice, clinic or hospital, giving you more time to focus on your patients.

Streamline workflows and treatment planning with Care Pathways

We hit the ground running with ePractice Appointments which lets you set up and manage your practice diary your way. Now we want to whet your appetite for Care Pathways, a cutting-edge patient management feature to help you optimise workflow and ensure a standardised, evidence-based approach to treatment planning so all your patients have the same high-quality experience throughout their journey.

Through a series of questions and automated prompts, Care Pathways will enable practitioners to quickly create and edit a detailed clinical note and treatment plan after each appointment which they can save to their records and share securely with the patient.

Our intuitive tools will enable clinical leads to configure the Care Pathway protocol for each organisation, ensuring diagnoses and treatment plans are recorded consistently, no matter who sees the patient, including locums. Practitioners can then use their clinical judgement to tailor treatment plans to meet the needs and preferences of individual patients.

Supporting decision-making and good governance

The care pathway model has been widely adopted in healthcare settings to support clinical decision-making and has been associated with better patient outcomes. A standardised approach also makes it easier to conduct audits and measure performance, in line with the good governance requirements of healthcare regulators like the CQC.

As a clinical feature, Care Pathways is a first for us and we’ve been working closely with online dermatology provider, MySkinDoctor to ensure it works seamlessly in a real-world setting. We can’t wait to share it with all our ePractice customers.

Prescribing is next

We’re not stopping here though. Soon, we’ll be adding an advanced Prescribing feature that avoids the hassle handwritten private prescriptions can cause for patients, practices and pharmacies. Instead, a simple and intuitive interface will enable practitioners to select the right medication for the patient, issue a digital prescription which includes all the correct information, add their electronic signature and either print it for the patient to take away or send this securely to a pharmacy to be dispensed.

We’ll bring you all the details on this in the coming months.

Say hello to Video Consultations

Video Consultations will soon be available through ePractice Appointments. It’s simple, streamlined and secure, giving you –

  • Convenience without barriers: no downloads needed for you or your patients
  • Streamlined workflow: schedule, consult and follow-up all in one place
  • Clear communication: hi-res for improved outcomes
  • Peace of mind: end-to-end encryption and certified information security
