Healthcare is evolving fast. Breakthrough diagnostics and treatments mean patient journeys are now more complex and often span multiple care settings.
To keep everything moving smoothly, providers need a secure, seamless way to manage workflow and share accurate patient data. That means your IT systems must work hard for your business and integrate effortlessly with other healthcare platforms, including the NHS.
With two decades of expertise in interoperable technology, we’re in a strong position to connect with NHS digital services through its Application Programme Interfaces (APIs). These APIs act as secure connectors, enabling different back-office and patient facing systems to communicate, whether that’s a GP sending a digital prescription to a pharmacy or verifying a patient’s details in real time.
Our NHS integration will enable you to benefit from our smart, time-saving solutions in NHS settings. Naturally, this involves meeting the NHS’s rigorous expectations around IT security, data standards and patient safety – and we have made considerable progress since we started in Autumn 2025.
Meeting NHS data security standards
Any organisation requiring access to NHS systems must complete the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) to show it meets the National Data Guardian’s 10 data security standards.
For us, this was a natural step. Protecting your business from cyber threats and safeguarding sensitive data has always been at the core of what we do. Our commitment to best practice includes end-to-end‑ encryption, Two-Factor Authentication and an extensive security testing programme designed to identify and prevent potential vulnerabilities.
We achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2022, the international gold standard for information security management, back in 2009, and we’ve maintained it ever since. We’re also certified under Cyber Essentials Plus, the Government backed scheme that provides enhanced assurance through independent technical testing.
Working with our first Clinical Safety Officer
To meet the Clinical Risk Management Standard for Health IT Systems (DCB0129), we consulted patient safety specialists at ETHOS Ltd.
Their Head of Clinical Safety, Dr Patrick Lester, is now our first Clinical Safety Officer. Patrick is collaborating closely with our teams to embed a comprehensive clinical risk management framework that keeps patient safety front and centre throughout the product lifecycle.
Many foundations are already in place for ePractice Prescribing, including baseline safety checks, a detailed clinical safety plan and a hazard log.
Look out for our next Meet the Team interview to learn more about Patrick and his role.
Easy access to Healthcode services within NHS settings
We’ve submitted proofs of concept to NHS England Digital and are enhancing our software to integrate with key NHS APIs: Care Identity Services (CIS2), Personal Demographic Services (PDS) and the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).
This integration opens the door to faster, simpler access to our services using NHS credentials, accurate digital prescribing within ePractice, and new opportunities for patients to access and share their own data.
NHS integration won’t happen overnight, but we’re making strong headway. Stay tuned for updates, and get in touch if you’d like to know more about what’s coming next.
